It’s the Little Things

I really had full intention of blogging halfway through the week, but man this week was super busy!! Now that we’ve been here almost a full month we are definitely into the swing of our new work schedules. We are so busy but we love what we are doing. It really makes a difference when you love what you’re doing. I have no doubt in my mind that this is where the Lord wants us. And He makes it so clear to us by blessing us with little things that bring us joy throughout the busy week.

Here are some of the little things that made this last week awesome!

Scenery: We’ve had a few lovely days here this week!! Seriously, look at that view! We’ve also had some crazy storms roll in right around sunset time. It makes for a beautiful sunset!

English Classes: English classes started this week! I have had so much fun with the Village Champions! There are 33 of them that come to class throughout the week to learn and practice their English. It’s going to be so much fun, but there are going to be challenges as well. Each group of students has a variety of knowledge of English. The students range from knowing almost fluent English to knowing none at all. But I am so excited to get started on real lessons this week! The Village Champions are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. One of the questions I asked on the first day of class was, “Why do you want to learn English?” One of my sweet students replied with, “I want to learn English because in the Bible it says that we are to go and make disciples of ALL nations and a lot of those nations speak English, so I want to learn English so I can go make disciples.”

Talk about humbling.

This is what it is all about, my friends. And I get to work with these men and women. What a blessing!! I have the best job.

Matt: Ya’ll, I love this man. I could say it over and over and over. It’s only more true each time I say it. Before English class one day this week he was teaching guitar to one of the Village Champions English. I love seeing him use the gifts God has given him to share them with others. It has been SO sweet to watch him build relationships with the people here. He is so good at communicating with them and showing them that he really cares about them. Watching the way they respond to him and the way they respect him has been so neat for my heart to see. I’m proud of him. More than he will EVER know.

Babies: I don’t need to say many words about this one. I mean, just look at him! This is Mackenlove, one of the precious babies at the orphanage here. After dinner one night I went down to the baby room with a few of the other ladies here and just sat and played and talked with the babies. Nothing is sweeter than that. 🙂

Saturday adventures: Okay, not really too much of an adventure, just grocery shopping. Although anytime you go into the city can be an adventure. Matt and I were the only staff wanting/needing to go into town yesterday. We didn’t want to be gone all day so we just went to the grocery store to get a few items to keep in our apartment. It was so good to go out with him! We also had an awesome driver who shared a lot with us about all the little parts of Haiti that we were driving through. It was a good day!

Football: I cannot tell ya’ll how happy it made Matt to be able to watch the Gator game last night. Friends are awesome and VPN’s are awesome. Enough said 🙂

I will blog again before next Sunday. I will, I will, I will.

Thank you for all of your continued prayers and support. We are SO blessed by you!
